A fully personal ceremony written just for you, this is where your love story takes centre stage. Paired with a simple legal registration elsewhere, this is your chance to say your vows exactly where, and exactly how you want. A ceremony to look back on in future years ahead. Did you want to involve the children, your nephew, your best friend’s daughter. Symbolic elements too? At a location that you choose? It does not have to be a licensed venue.

Commitment Ceremonies
For couples who want to publicly declare their love and commitment, without the legal marriage element : a commitment ceremony offers all the emotion, ritual, and celebration of a wedding, entirely on your own terms.

Do you find writing a challenge?
Would you like someone with experience to take the pressure off your shoulders whilst you concentrate on other important aspects of your ceremony planning?
Often during times of emotions, joy, sadness, overwhelm and excitement, we can lose track of time and before we know it - the day has arrived for your loved one’s ceremony or your own.
I have a vast amount of experience with writing, particularly in the days when I completed my Midwifery Degree, late nights, research and computer technology in the mix.
With my creative writing experience also as an independent celebrant, we have been taught when to pause, when to change emphasis, inflection, tonation, pitch, tone and voice. With my guidance, we can ensure your words are woven into your ceremony beautifully. Small nuances make all the difference. Occasionally a couple may wish for a special family member to read out and deliver a script and become the “Story-teller”. There may be a couple of speakers such as an older sibling, a teenager or grandparent who means the world to you.
I offer a script-only service where you can advise me when completing the questionnaire and during our information gathering. I fill in the gaps with some humour, pauses where necessary and timings.
Or if you wish to have support with vows and confidence-building on delivering them with poise and energy, so you capture the room, I can help.

Amendments and revisions
As a clinical hypnotherapist, trained in CBT/NLP and psychotherapy, as a breath coach and mindset coach too, I offer guidance with your body language to support you or your guests in delivering poems, readings or a full script.
I can support with how and where to stand, speaking with your personality, body language, hydration (yes to stop that dry mouth if nervous too!) eye contact, pace, pauses, pitch, projection, pronunciation and enunciation, filler words, breathing support, intonation, anxiety and emotion. The key is to practice, practice, practice!
Plus I offer advice on how to open (hook), call backs (referencing previous comments) and closing words written.
Public speaking is what I am used to, having spoken at conferences for midwives and consultants and for Mental Health groups I have chaired. Allow me to offer my experience to support you and your guests with confidence-building.

There is a real beauty in writing your own vows. Finding words that are truly yours.
There may be times where you feel that public speaking is nerve-wracking! I used to, but it does get easier.
I am very used to public speaking with all the roles I have played in my career! However, for many people it does not come so easily. The thought of people, guests, family and friends - those who are looking at you on your special day are expecting or waiting for some beautiful words of affirmation and love. For some it comes naturally, for others not so much.
Why worry over this! There is a solution.
Pop me a message and I can help you with some guidance. Please don’t use AI. Your partner certainly wants to hear your own words from the heart, with what makes them feel special to you and how they have changed or enhanced your life. Deep and meaningful words don’t always flow particularly during stressful anxiety provoking moments under pressure.
I certainly do not use AI for my script writing - as it does not know a couple like I do when it comes to ceremonies and information gathering.
The beauty of personal vows are that nobody has experienced your emotions, your world, your love with your own lens.
I don’t write vows for you - I can guide you into what structure would perhaps work for you, how to open, how to tell a story and how to close with meaning.

Legal note:
Current UK marriage law is over 200 years old, and it means that only registrars or authorised religious officials can legally marry a couple. Independent celebrants like myself aren't yet included, even though we're fully trained and qualified. I am a Master Celebrant qualified to curate and deliver bespoke personalised Weddings, Funerals and Naming Ceremonies and all that is in between.
However, this means that if you want me to lead your ceremony, you'll also need a short, simple legal registration at a Register Office (usually just you, your partner, and two witnesses), separate from the ceremony we create together. You can of course add guests at extra cost if you use the registrar services.
Why this might be changing
This is currently under review. The Law Commission, Ministry of Justice, and Parliament have been looking at reforming marriage law to give couples more choice, including the option for a legally recognised ceremony led entirely by an independent celebrant.
This is being driven by campaigns like Give Couples Choice Movement (GCCM), pushing for reform that would allow couples to choose exactly who marries them and how. This could potentially reduce costs too, since couples currently often pay for both a registrar and a celebrant.
Until the law changes, I'll guide you through the simplest way to handle the legal side, so you can focus on the ceremony that actually tells your story.
This means you're free to marry:
Outdoors, in a woodland, a barn, on a beach, in a castle, in your garden, in a zoo, on a hill, in a vineyard - anywhere
Without needing a licensed venue
On your own timeline, not the registrar's
Venues - Did you know that once the Law Reform takes effect you won’t carry your licence for ceremonies. The Officiant will hold the licence.
